Peter Wolf of the J. Geils Band and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith -- aging front men of rock bandsTonight I'm headed to historic Fenway Park in Boston, MA to see two iconic bands that got their start in Boston. One is a major recording artist that has toured the world and the other is a relatively local band that has seem some success, but are considered royalty in Boston.

Google is the search giant. We know this. They also have a slew of productivity tools that help with email, writing, calculating, translations, analytics, RSS feeds, etc. Their productivity offerings are just as good as their search offering. Simply put, they're good.

However, Google as had two attempts at social media -- Google Buzz and Google Wave. Now, it could be argued that Google Wave is a productivity tool, but in my opinion, it's a social application for groups, business teams, friends and family. It makes communicating happen in real-time and social. Thus, why I categorized it as "social media."

Blogger In Draft is Google's playground for their blog platform, Blogger. It showcases a number of features that blog owners can test out before they go live on the traditional Blogger platform.

Blogging is old hat. Online journals like Blog City, Geocities, Live Journal and the original Blogger (pre-Google), paved the way for today's Wordpress, Squarespace, Google's Blogger and CSS.

Despite blogging being around for quite some time, there are still writers and executives of companies out there that are nervous about blogging. They don't know what to say. They don't think anyone will care to read their stuff. They just don't think it's worth the investment.

However, once most bloggers get a whiff of success, i.e. your first thread that reaches over 100 views and gets a slew of comments, they are hooked.
Broken foot dashes dreams of another parade in BostonThe Red Sox started this season with boat loads of promise. With a killer starting line-up and depth are just about every position, the Sox had zero "big questions" to answer going into the season.

However, as the ship left the port, the team was lucky to ensure that the medical staff was well prepared. The season that started so promising has fluttered along. And Friday, just as the Sox were playing well and things seemed to be turning around, the team heart beat and spark plug, aka Dustin Pedroia, broke his foot.
