Chicago Cubs: Curse of The Goat

Chicago Cubs: Curse of The Goat

The goat. The black cat. Gatorade glove.  Bartman. 1908.

Chief Wahoo. Rocky Colavito. The movie Major League. 1948.

I feel your pain. You see, I'm a Red Sox fan. Die hard, in fact.

We had Frazeeze and the Bambino. Bucky Dent. Buckner. Grady Little.

Cleveland Indians: Curse of Rocky Colavito

Cleveland Indians: Curse of Rocky Colavito

Then we had down 0-3 to the Yankees and won. We swept the Cardinals and took home the World Series Trophy since 1918. Then we did it again -- worst to first -- in 2007. Then, just because the world works in strange ways, the Red Sox won again in 2013.

You see, one of your droughts will be over. You are now experiencing this blissful feeling of what could be. You are so close you can taste it. You're so close that the allure of getting that final out is swallowing your every single thought. You can't focus. You can't concentrate at work. You've changed your phone background to a team-themed image. You have your "juju" tricks ready, by your side for the first pitch in the World Series. You see, you need all the karma you can get. You know that the baseball Gods have something against your beloved team. That's why you talk about the goat. That's why you talk about Colavito. It's why you sit in the same place, eat the same thing, watch the games with the same people...you know that whatever you do during the game will most definitely impact the end result.

I feel for you. I've been there. I had one of my kids toys that I threw in frustration when the Sox were down 0-3 to the Yankees. Then Dave Roberts stole second base. Then Papi. Then Damon. The rest was history.

But, history hasn't been written yet. You're living it right now and those blank pages are thirsty for some ink. They will be written and one way or another, one of your curses will be broken, while the other team's hearts, will be smashed into pieces...again.

Good luck Cubbies and Tribe fans. Enjoy the ride, especially to the team that wins.

It's magical. Trust me.

Sincerely,
Red Sox Nation
