I'm a dad of a teenager, FML, sorta
Shit, when did this happen? When did I become a dad of a teenager?
I've heard the stories. I've seen people's expressions. I've been consoled. I've been mocked. I've been teased.
"Daughter? Teenage years? You're screwed!"
As a dad, which path do I chose? Hard ass? Always on her about everything? All up in her shit constantly?
Or.
Cool dad. Chill mode. Watch from a distance and let her experience life. Always be a phone call away no matter what she needs.
Yea, I'll think I'll go that route.
I have two simple rules for my kids and now it applies to my 13 year old daughter even more so:
1. Make good decisions and live with them either way.
2. Don't be an asshole.
If you follow those two things, you'll be alright kiddo.
Thankfully, when the OBGYN doc asked if we wanted the future teenage daughter GPS tracking device implant package, we said yes.
:)
Happy bday little girl.
Love,
Cool yet freaked out Dad.
