It's important to have time with the wife without the kids. Yea, we've talked about everything you possibly can and there are some quiet times when you're hanging out, but it's important to be without the kids from time to time.
Last night the wife and I headed to Aerosmith / J. Geils at Fenway Park. It was an unbelievable experience and to share it with the wife was even better. We had such a great time just chatting about the music, watching people (great people watching BTW) and enjoying eachother's company.
We try and do stuff like this often, but of course, it doesn't happen as often as it should. We get caught up in work, home life, BBQs with friends, birthday parties, etc. We don't have "regular date" nights but we are sure to do "just us" things often enough that when we do it, they are absolutely fun.
Yes, we miss the kids but they do enjoy their time with grandparents, aunts and uncles. But, for those hours of "just us" time, we're just a happy couple doing our thing -- whether it's headed to the movies, out to dinner or watching some kick as music at historical Fenway Park.
What do you do on date night with the spouse?
