Trolling through the good ole RSS reader and I came across a post from the Google Wave Blog that was a tease of sorts as to what the service might turn into.
You remember Google Wave right? It was the much-hyped Google product that was going to revolutionize how we communicated. Well, that failed and failed miserably.
However, I still feel the concept of Wave is pretty bad ass. Real time collaboration in the browser will take off someday and it'll more than just instant messaging.
Google is the search giant. We know this. They also have a slew of productivity tools that help with email, writing, calculating, translations, analytics, RSS feeds, etc. Their productivity offerings are just as good as their search offering. Simply put, they're good.
However, Google as had two attempts at social media -- Google Buzz and Google Wave. Now, it could be argued that Google Wave is a productivity tool, but in my opinion, it's a social application for groups, business teams, friends and family. It makes communicating happen in real-time and social. Thus, why I categorized it as "social media."
Blogger In Draft is Google's playground for their blog platform, Blogger. It showcases a number of features that blog owners can test out before they go live on the traditional Blogger platform.
Recently, Google launched a Blogger Template Designer and one of the most asked for feature since then, was the ability to upload your own background image.
Last week, Google announced that they were relaunching Google News in a better format with enhanced customization, discovery and sharing. The redesign was the biggest change since the launch in beta in 2002.
The feedback was good, but some folks wanted parts of the old Google News back.
One of the first thing a blogger must do is decide what their site is going to look like. The brand is everything.
With flash sites being part of the webs wicked past, bloggers and designers the like have turned back the clock to simpler times -- clean designs, less noise and simple navigation.
