Your no bullsh*t 2014 social media trends post

It's that time of year that I give you my no BS social media trends post. Enjoy it.

- Kids will continue to hate Facebook because mom and dad (and grandma) are using it.

- Adults will try to figure out snapchat but we will be confused.

- Texting will reign as the cross demographic communication king despite social media hype.

- Twitter will get noisier and being human won't be a requisite to register for the service.

- Content sharing depression will set in, i.e. those that once over-shared will no longer feel the need to do so.

- GetGlue will be buried and gone as second screen experiences will morph into something better than just a simple check-in.

- Plurk will make a comeback. Oh wait, no, Path I mean. No, what? Forget it.

- The short video market -- Vine and Instagram -- will rage on, but no one will win the race.

- It'll snow again in Boston. Yea, I went there. Yea, I know, it has nothing to do with social media. #WhyBoston

- There will be a number of books published about social media that no one will read. Well, not no one, but don't expect them to hit the NYT best sellers list.

- Agencies will continue to blur lines (you know you want it) as it relates to PR, marketing, advertising, digital and social.

- Agencies will drive the birth of more buzzwords and will coin phrases that make us sound smarter, but don't mean a friggin thing. Hello social business, storytelling and more.

- I'll write another one of these posts at this time next year and not much will change.

Chew on that for a while.
