The LA Times has a good story about the finale of Rescue Me, the acclaimed TV series about Ladder 62 in New York that goes through a variety of mazes as they recover from the horrific events that transpired on September 11, 2001.
The show is headlined by Boston-area comedian, Denis Leary. The story talks about how the series began and how it'll end -- in a bang.
As a fan of the show -- one of the few TV shows I watch religiously -- I'm sad to see it come to an end. The final episode will air on the 10th anniversary of 9-11. There's an eery feeling as the 10th year anniversary creeps up and this show has brought some of those emotions back to the forefront.
The writing is fantastic and the camera work is just as impressive. It's a show about firefighters who are hardly ever on the truck. It's most about their personal battles. While it's ending, I'd highly suggest you get the pervious seasons and take some time to watch it. You'll laugh. You'll get angry. You'll probably even shed a tear or two -- especially for those of us who still have images of that fateful day burned in our minds.
